DEFINITION

Antivirus software traditionally scans for and deletes or quarantines viruses and can recognize suspicious behavior triggered by infections. Antivirus software protects against very specific threats, but only after an attack has already occurred. Antivirus software identifies Trojan horses, spyware, worms, and other malware.
