WEB@WORK 2006—IT DECISION-MAKER SURVEY

Web@Work is a comprehensive annual survey of internet and application usage in the workplace. By surveying both employees and IT managers, the study reveals unique insights on employees’ surfing habits as well as IT managers’ perspective on the top network problems facing today’s organizations. Web@Work is commissioned by Websense, Inc. and conducted by Harris Interactive®. This is the seventh annual Web@Work survey.

Here are some of the findings:

BOTS

• Nineteen percent of IT decision-makers indicated that they have had employees’ work-owned computers or laptops infected with a bot. (60 percent indicated 'No' and 21 percent 'Unsure').
• Sixty-two percent of companies filter bot traffic in their network; 14 percent do not; 24 percent were unsure.

PHISHING

• Eighty-one percent of IT decision-makers indicated that their employees have ever received a phishing attack via email or instant messaging (IM). (80 percent via email and 11 percent via IM).
• Forty-seven percent of IT decision-makers whose employees have received a phishing attack said that their employees have clicked through the URL on a phishing attack.
